Synopsis: Cynthia (Janice Richardson) is a young girl who tries to ease the pain of loneliness, shyness and ghetto life by hiding in her diary. In her mind, she's a star - but in life, she's invisible, unavailable, buried under a pair of headphones, and battling her own insecurities.

Her brother Juan (Carlos Leon) is supporting his drug habit by stealing Cynthia's diary and selling the lyrics to a rapper named "Deuce,"(Eric Smith) on the verge of getting a record contract from music mogul Tommy Morel (Luis Moro).

Will Cynthia rise to the challenge, help her brother, and become the performer she yearns to be?

How did the film win so many diverse awards?

I would like to take credit for the diverse multi cultural back ground the director, Lisa France and I have. But. As much as we're both responsible for bringing this universal multi-cultural story to the big screen. I know we where both really honoring Anne Frank. There was never a moment when Lisa and I did not know all we have to do is stay true to the spirit of Anne Frank. We believe we had Anne Frank next to us through out the entire rewrite process, the casting, the production, the editing, everything. Lisa and I must of read Anne's book about ten times each. And referrenced it another thousand easily. Anne Frank was the one really getting the awards.

Who is Buddy Elias to you and to Anne Frank?

Buddy is Anne Franks last living relative. I read about him in a New York Times article and decided to let him know we where making this movie. Everyone around me went crazy trying to stop me. "Don't you call him, etc. We'll have to get his permission, etc." type of threats. But Lisa and I said that's right. That's why I'm calling him. If I'm making a movie and referencing Anne Frank in anyway. I need to know someone who holds Anne's name in trust approves of what Lisa and I have created with this film. I sent Buddy the script thirty days before we started shooting. He loved it and gave me his full blessing. A year later when he actually saw the movie his compliments and endorsement went beyond anything we ever expected.

What's your favorite Anne Frank Quote?

The line actor David Zayas, who plays Cynthia'a father and gives her the book as a child reads. I found that quote the morning we where going to shoot David's scene on the last day of production. Then Lisa and I rewrote the entire scene and gave it to Dave right before we where going to shoot. He took it on like the excellent actor he is. David did it so well, that his one scene in the movie, became the entire through line for the whole picture. The whole story now had a through line from one scene because of the actors performance and the quote where so great. And it's the only time we quote Anne Frank's father instead of Anne Frank.

The entire movie is geared towards the audience getting that statemtent for the rest of their lives. I still get the personal letters from parents saying it's working. Anne Frank is alive and well through Anne B. Real, the movie.
